Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common but serious medical illness that has a negative impact on how you feel, think and act. Symptoms may vary from mild to severe and include feelings of sadness and/or lack of interest in activities you once enjoyed. Other symptoms include changes in appetite, changes in sleep, loss of energy, feeling worthless/guilty. difficulty thinking or concentrating and thoughts of death or suicide.

Symptoms must be present for at least 2 weeks and must represent a change in your previous level of functioning for a diagnosis of depression.
